Our Son
I have in my hot little hand a photocopy of Adan's new birth certificate...you know, the one with our names as his parents and our last name as his. He is officially and legally our son now!
I went to the attorney's office in Guatemala City today for Adan's doctor appointment. The new birth certificate was just hot off the presses as of this morning, and the attorney was very excited to show it to me.
On Tuesday, he should get Adan's passport, and on Wednesday, his application for his U.S. visa will be submitted to the U.S. Embassy. Unfortunately, visa appointments at the Embassy are a couple weeks out right now, so we still won't be home for Christmas, but it is likely we'll be coming home by the first week of January.
As far as the doctor appointment went, Adan gained another pound and is now weighing in at 18 lbs. It was actually surprising to me that he had gained that much considering how much has been coming out of him in all directions the last week and a half. The doctor switched his formula again, since he is still sometimes vomiting. This one is an anti-regurgitation formula and he'll be on it for 15 days. I just wish he would feel completely back to normal. It's tough to see him feel bad. The little guy still smiles through it all, though. He is truly a happy baby. I can't tell you how many people down here have told me he is 'muy tranquilo', because he just is hardly ever fussy. Hopefully I didn't butcher the spelling on the Spanish.
Hopefully, I'll have news of an Embassy appointment very soon. I'll post again when I know more.

Congratulations! It's so fantastic and wonderful that it all passed so quickly. Well, quickly for us who are watching from outside anyways. Can't wait to see family snaps.
