The first baby shower!

My wonderful friends, Kerri and Sally, threw me a baby shower yesterday. They made it a Guatemalan themed affair complete with little known facts about Guatemala, Latin America music, and Guatemalan flags. They also asked each guest to bring a Spanish phrase for Daron and I and a book for Adan's library. We will be set with Spanish things to say to him or while we are in Guatemala, and Adan will have so many fabulous books to read. It was so wonderful and so much fun to spend the afternoon with friends and family all celebrating the impending arrival of Adan. He is definitely not going to suffer from lack of attention when he comes home! He'll also have plenty to do with all the toys and books that were showered upon us, not to mention all the practical items that will get us off on the right foot for everyday life and travel, including clothes, baby food, snack items, wipes, and so many other things I couldn't begin to name them all.

I just had to include pictures of the beautiful quilts and blankets that were made by hand for him as well. The first one was stitched by my friend, Kerri. The little pictures are of cute little lions, elephants, and giraffes. It is made out of flannel is will be very warm and cuddly for Adan. The second one was hand quilted by my mother in law. In this picture it is hard to see, but around the edges it says "The moon sang a lullaby and a star danced in heaven on the day you were born". It is so pretty and what a beautiful saying. The next one was quilted by my friend, Lori. I just love the soft colors and beautiful design. The bottom one was crafted by my friend, Michell. The vibrant, bright colors are very representative of Adan's Guatemalan heritage. All of them were made with so much love, I just know he is going to love them all.

Thank you to all of you for such a terrific afternoon. I will cherish the experience in my heart and will make sure to document it in Adan's lifebook, so he knows how much he was anticipated and loved before he even arrived.
