Double Good News!
We found out today that the DNA testing has been completed AND we were approved by Family Court! The DNA samples will be mailed to a lab in the US and the results will then be mailed to both us and the US Embassy in Guatemala (usually about 2 -2 1/2 weeks after the sample is taken). Once they recieve the results, they can issue what is called the Pre-Approval. After that has been issued, we will be submitted to PGN. We are probably at least 2-3 weeks away from that point.
PGN stands for Procuraduria de la Nación which is similar to our Attorney General's office. They will verify the legality of all the paperwork and processes that have been completed. This step has been taking a minimum of 6-7 weeks for most people lately and unfortunately much longer for some people. There doesn't seem to be much rhyme or reason to why it is longer for some than others. Hopefully, we'll be on the shorter end of that time frame. Once we are out of PGN it will be only a few more weeks until we can go get our baby!
We should get new pictures by the end of the week. That is always the highlight of the month!
