We have pre-approval

We received an email from the US embassy in Guatemala today to let us know that we have received pre-approval for the adoption. Now we just need to get into PGN, which is really our last big hurdle. We have been told that once in PGN the recent average wait is 11-12 weeks; however, it does appear to be decreasing. In the last couple of weeks I've been hearing of people getting out in 7-8 weeks and one even at 5 weeks. We're hoping that will be closer to our timeframe (or even less!). After PGN it is still another 3-4 weeks before we'll travel. We figure November is our best case scenario if we get in and out of PGN soon; otherwise, it will likely be December or January. I would really love to get him home in time for Christmas or at very least his first birthday on January 15th.

Sorry I haven't posted much, but there just hasn't been any news. We should get his new measurements next week, so I'll update next with either that information or the news we've gotten into PGN. Whichever is first.

Congratulations on this big hurdle! I've been reading for a bit now as my husband and I are also adopting from Guatemala. We've just accepted our referral.

Thanks for sharing your story and allowing us to live vicariously through you!
