Getting Closer

Daron talked with our adoption coordinator this morning and found out that we were submitted to the Embassy yesterday (not Wednesday as they thought we would be). Anyway, our coordinator felt the Embassy would probably issue our appointment (also known as 'Pink' because it comes on a pink sheet) by next Wednesday. Usually the appointments are about a week after the Pink is issued. Therefore, we're hoping for an appointment sometime around January 3rd. We should be able to leave the country a couple days later once Adan's visa is delivered. So, hopefully we'll be back in the states around January 5th or 6th. It's all completely up in the air though, so don't count on those dates yet. They're just a best estimate at this time.

Adan is finally healthy and happy again. He has been eating quite a bit the last few days, so he should start packing on the pounds soon. He weighs less than some of my friends 7 and 8 months old, and he's going to be a year on January 15th!

We went Christmas shopping at the market (mercado) today. That is quite the experience. We've been learning how to negotiate prices, and have bought some neat toys for Adan and other things to bring home. It's really quite chaotic with people there! And let me tell you, the people do not have the right away here. Cars, buses, bikes, mopeds, motorcycles, you name it, are all over the place and have very little patience for anyone in their way. The market is on the complete opposite side of town, so today was one of those days we were happy to have a stroller, even though it isn't necessarily easy to negotiate a stroller down the narrow cobblestone sidewalks either. Anyway, we had a nice day and are now pooped out.

Adan and Daron are hanging out at the apartment while I'm at the Bed & Breakfast next door using the internet. I need to head back soon to help with feeding time. We don't have a high chair, so it has been kind of a two man job. Thus, I better sign off, but I'll keep you posted as to when we will be more sure of dates.
