One Year Ago...
It was exactly one year ago today that Daron and I arrived in Guatemala and first held our son in our arms. It hardly seems possible that a year has gone by since then. We've been able to watch Adan get his first teeth, learn how to crawl and later walk, and now we're hearing him speak words. He's been the source of so much joy for us. Just this morning he was in a particularly huggy mood. He just kept wrapping his arms around my neck and rubbing his nose on my cheek. He did the same thing for Daron. It was almost like he knew what a special day today is - the day we became a family forever.
We just returned from a visit to my brother and his fiance in San Diego. While there, we also saw Daron's cousin, Jody, who took us on a 'behind the scenes' tour of Sea World, where she works. What a great time that was - we were able to feed manatees and sea lions and see some baby rescued animals. Adan really enjoyed throwing the fish to the sea lions. I can't say that I touched any of them, but he thought it was great. We have some pictures, but they are on my brother's memory card, so I won't be able to post those photos tonight, but I'll post a couple others. On Sunday, my uncles, Dale and Michael, drove down from their place in LA and the whole group of us went to the San Diego zoo. It was a beautiful day and we had such a nice time. When we finally returned home on Monday, we were exhausted!
Sorry the posts are so few and far between these days. We've learned a toddler can keep us quite busy. In other news, we have decided to start the adoption process again. Because of several changes that will be occurring in Guatemala over the next several months, we will be pursuing domestic adoption instead. We've nearly completed our homestudy and will be working on our profile pages next. We hope to be in the profile book, which is the official waiting list, by February. There probably won't be much to report over the next few months, but I'll let you know when anything happens.
