Adan keeps us hopping!

Well, ever since those tubes were put in, Adan has been on the go. Walking is now a thing of the past. Why would you walk when you can run?! He thinks its great fun to run away from us and make us catch him. Boy, how quickly that comes after they first start walking!

Now, we're trying to make progress with the other item that the ear infections impacted - his speech. At his 18 month check up a couple weeks ago, they asked us if he had 4-10 words yet, but no, he does not. The doctor feels fairly certain that the ear infections and the fact that he heard nothing but Spanish for the first 10 1/2 months of his life are the most likely culprit. But just to be on top of things, he referred us to a speech therapist. We met with her, and she agreed that in every other way, he is right where he should be developmentally. Therefore, she recommended we just keep working with him on our own for the next month or so, and if he's still not talking much, we check into the Birth to 3 program offered by the public school system. I've heard good things about that program, so we'll definitely do that if the need arises. Since that appointment though, he is now saying 'hi' and we think 'ball'. I'm sure one of these days he'll be talking my ear off and I'll wonder what I was ever worried about!

I posted a couple recent pictures. He sure is looking more and more like a little boy, instead of a baby! He's a little guy, in the 25th percentile for height and only the 5th percentile for weight. At nearly 19 months, he still mainly wears 12 month and some 18 month clothes. He's only gained 2 pounds since we brought him home, but he's very healthy, so the doctor isn't too concerned. He's just having us add a little PediaSure into his diet to give him a few more calories.
