And we're done

In another case of remarkable same day turnaround, our dossier documents returned from the General Consulate of Guatemala today. Now, I just need to pack them up and mail them to the adoption agency with a few other things such as the USCIS approval and a couple other minor documents they require. I had also forgotten I need to include a print of each of our passport photos, so I'll have to get those printed at the photo center tomorrow. Since referral seems a way off, another day or two getting things ready won't be a big deal. I can't believe the paperwork is finally done! I think we have probably filled out at least 40 documents in the last several months, probably more.

One of the ways I will occupy myself while we wait for the referral is with my garden. Last year, for the first time, I started my garden plants from seed. Prior to that I had always bought plants at the store. Well, I had so much fun watching the seedlings break through the soil and grow to full-fledged plants, that I can't wait to start again! My new seed arrived today, so I will be starting soon. I'll probably need to wait a couple weeks to coincide well timing-wise with when I can transplant the young plants outside. As usual I will plant tomatoes, beans, cucumbers, and onions, but this year I will also be trying strawberries, carrots, and sweet potatoes. The strawberries and sweet potatoes will actually arrive as plants, not seed like everything else. Heck, when you buy it through a catalog, it's so inexpensive it's worth the experience even if something doesn't work out.
